New Pokemon TCG McDonald’s Promo Cards Revealed

CassandraGames2025-07-179230

A new Pokemon x McDonald's promotion is on the way, and the cards fans will be able to pick up have been revealed. This promo will also include Pokemon toys with Happy Meals, and it's likely that the promo will see extreme popularity.

Pokemon and McDonald's have gone hand-in-hand for years now. In addition to Happy Meals toys and Pokemon card giveaways, visiting McDonald's also once served as a method of gaining in-game perks, as players had to bring their DS or 3DS to McDonald's stores and use its wi-fi internet to download the freebies. While those in-game promos are largely extinct, the two companies still frequently partner up for giveaways.

Now, the newest collab between Pokemon and McDonald's has been revealed. Starting on August 8, 2025, McDonald's customers in Japan can get a free Pokemon toy with any Happy Meal purchase. Starting on August 9 and running until August 11, McDonald's will start giving away Pokemon TCG cards. One is an original Pokemon TCG card featuring a unique illustration of Pikachu at McDonald's, with the popular Pokemon cutely reaching for a burger. Five additional cards can also be received at random, including Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starters Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, as well as Riolu and Ralts.

Will This Pokemon McDonald's Promo Come to Other Countries?

At the moment, there have been no announcements made about the Pokemon TCG collection or the toys coming to stores outside of Japan. However, fans shouldn't give up hope, as it's quite common for promos like these to launch in one region and then arrive elsewhere in the months following. For example, an early 2025 Pokemon Happy Meal promo was held in the US from January 21 to February 24, which eventually arrived in the UK starting in May, and will end in mid-July.

Whether eager fans are in Japan or waiting for these cards to arrive elsewhere, fans should be aware of the extreme demand Pokemon and McDonald's promos generate. Within a day of the aforementioned promotion beginning in the US, the cards began appearing on sites like eBay, with some of the cards costing as much as $100. Unfortunately, the market for these cards means that some buyers hoard and scalp them, making it harder to find them directly from McDonald's locations. If fans want to try and pick up these cards for themselves, they should act quickly, whether they pick them up during the upcoming Japan promotion or wait to see if it arrives elsewhere.
