The first beta weekend for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 may not arrive until late September, according to a trusted insider and leaker. The release date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is currently unknown, but if the supposed late September window for its first beta weekend is anything to go by, fans might not be getting their hands on the next Call of Duty game until sometime in November.

So far, fans have only received a short look at Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 via its first cinematic trailer. The mind-bending footage was shown to the world last month during the Xbox Games Showcase, confirming that the next Call of Duty game will be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2, set in the year 2035. The trailer also revealed the return of some iconic Black Ops characters, such as David Mason and the villainous Raul Menendez. Fans are still waiting to find out more about the shooter, but if a recent leak is to be believed, it's going to be quite some time before fans get to go hands-on with Black Ops 7.

Call of Duty beta weekends have become incredibly popular in recent years, as they give fans a chance to test out all of the newest features, weapons, maps, and more. However, it looks like fans could be waiting another two months before they get to check out Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. According to reliable insider and leaker TheGhostOfHope, the first beta weekend for Black Ops 7 will take place after COD NEXT in late September. The yearly event gives fans an in-depth look at the next Call of Duty title and allows content creators to go hands-on with the shooter before the beta begins shortly after.

Black Ops 7's First Beta May Be Much Later Than Black Ops 6's

If TheGhostOfHope is to be believed, the marketing cycle for Black Ops 7 appears to be much later than it was for its predecessor. In 2024, COD Next took place on August 28 for Black Ops 6, which means this year's event is a whole month later than last year. But, with that being said, it's not unusual for COD Next to take place in September. In 2022, the event was held on September 15, followed by an even later event in 2023 for Modern Warfare 3, which occurred in October.

Thankfully, fans won't be waiting until September to find out more about the next Black Ops game. Earlier this week, Gamescom host Geoff Keighley took to Twitter to announce that the worldwide reveal for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will take place on August 19 as part of Gamescom Opening Night Live. It's currently unknown if any gameplay will be shown during the event, but fans will want to tune in to find out more about this year's Call of Duty title.
