Bandai Namco’s Anime MMORPG Blue Protocol Returns With New Beta

IzaiahGames2025-07-283120

Blue Protocol: Star Resonance has opened sign-ups for its latest closed beta test. Players eager to try the second take on Bandai Namco's anime MMORPG ahead of time have until mid-August 2025 to register their interest in doing so, with the Blue Protocol: Star Resonance beta being set to kick off shortly afterward.

In December 2022, Bandai Namco partnered with Amazon Games to bring Blue Protocol to the West. However, the Japanese gaming giant shut down the game in January 2025, before this plan could materialize. With the shutdown already confirmed and pending, developer Shanghai Baokela Network Technology (SBNT) announced in December 2024 that it was resurrecting the IP with Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, set in the same world as the original but featuring a new cast of characters and an original story. Like the canceled MMO that preceded it, Star Resonance was promised to launch internationally.

In the run-up to the game's global debut, SBNT announced a closed beta test planned for later this summer. Registrations are open until August 14, with access codes set to be distributed between August 15 and 20. While SBNT has not confirmed an exact start date for the new Blue Protocol game's beta, it stated that the test will run for at least ten days. The final duration will likely depend on how the early phase unfolds; in the event of severe server issues, SBNT is likely to extend the beta after addressing them in order to ensure that its fixes work, which is standard industry practice for tests of this nature.

All accepted participants will be notified about qualifying for the beta via email between August 15 and August 20, 2025.

The beta build of the upcoming anime MMORPG will include in-game purchases, SBNT has confirmed. While the developer did not detail the scope of these transactions, it noted that progress from the beta will not carry over to the full game, as a complete data wipe is planned at the end of the test. Players who choose to spend money during the beta will be reimbursed through a rebate system at launch. The full rebate policy is available on the official Blue Protocol: Star Resonance website.
