Honda's Popular Minivan in America

The Odyssey isn't the most popular Honda, but it remains a steady performer in the competitive minivan market. Despite lacking major updates or hybrid options, Odyssey sales have quietly climbed in 2025. American Honda reported 50,033 units sold from January through June, up 27.8% compared to the same period in 2024. In June alone, the minivan accounted for 9,542 units, a 38.4% increase year-over-year.

However, the Odyssey's surprising momentum may face a setback as the 2026 model year is bringing in a round of price increases, which could place the Japanese minivan at a disadvantage relative to newer and more affordable competitors.

2026 Price Hikes are Minor But Substantial

According to CarsDirect, which obtained a dealer order guide for the minivan, the Honda Odyssey will get a minor price increase across its 2026 lineup. The base EX-L trim will start at $42,795 (before destination charges), which represents a $575 increase over the previous model year.

Other variants follow the same pattern: the Sport-L is set to rise by $525 to $43,895, while the Touring trim climbs $585 to $47,495. The top-of-the-line Elite now starts at $51,695, showing a $515 increase.

The price changes from 1.01% to 1.36%, which are typical for a model year change. However, they apply despite the Odyssey receiving no new equipment or feature updates for 2026. Despite the facelift it received this year, it remains a carryover model based on the fifth-generation platform that arrived in 2018, making it one of the oldest entries in its class.

The Most Expensive Minivan in the Market

The price hikes may be small, but they will put the Odyssey in a more expensive position than many of its key rivals.

The Toyota Sienna, for instance, starts at $39,485 and comes standard with a hybrid powertrain. The Kia Carnival begins at $36,990, with its hybrid version priced from $40,990. The Chrysler Pacifica, a longtime segment rival, starts at $42,450, while the fleet-oriented Chrysler Voyager is listed at $39,995.

With the price increases at play, the base Odyssey will cost over $3,000 more than the Sienna and nearly $2,000 more than Carnival's hybrid option. Both latter models are more modern alternatives, offering electrified drivetrains and newer platforms at lower starting prices. The Odyssey's aging design and higher cost may limit its appeal in the coming year.
