Courteney Cox made an appearance at the annual Inc. 5000 conference over the weekend, and the Scream star reminisced about her time on the iconic TV series Friends, including a pre-show ritual she took part in before filming each episode with her costarsLisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and the late Matthew Perry.

“We’d get in a huddle and we would say, 'Alright, everybody! Good luck!' And we'd give each other a hug and a high five,” Cox said during a fireside chat at the conference. “Friends was shot in front of a live audience, and that was a whole different thing. Now, I do things that are filmed."

Friends ran for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004 and left its mark on pop culture with a variety of memorable lines and helped skyrocket the cast’s names into fame. The stars have stayed close in the years since the final season, and they mourned along with hundreds of thousands of fans when Perry died in 2023. In December 2024, Kudrow spoke about the group’s close friendship and said that they “worked hard” at it.

“If someone said something or did something, it didn’t get too big because it was, ‘Can I talk to you?’” Kudrow told “Armchair Expert” podcast host Dax Shephard at the time.

The No Good Deed actress also spoke about her friendship with Perry before his death and touched on the topic of his struggles with addiction.

“This will sound odd,” she explained. “I’m more comforted that he was happy the day he died. He got to die happy. And to me, that was a gift. I loved that Matthew I first met and the one at the end, because God love him, this is you, and I love you. I understand, and so did he.”
