Planning a bike trip? Explore these scenic Finger Lakes trails this summer

The warm weather seems to be here to stay, and many people are looking for fun, easy and inexpensive ways to enjoy the summer season. To make the most out of your summer in the Finger Lakes, biking trails might be your answer.

Add these Finger Lakes biking trails to your summer to do list this year:

Auburn Trail

Two bicyclists head along the Auburn Trail in Victor. An extension of the trail that runs through multiple towns in Monroe and Ontario County is planned in Canandaigua.

The Auburn Trail stretches over nine miles through Victor from Highway 31 in Pittsford to Rochester Road in Farmington, Ontario County. This multi-use, stone trail is ADA-compliant and includes views of the Irondequoit Creek, the historic trestle bridge, wildlife and more.

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

There is a trail that is compliant with the American with Disabilites Act at Ontario County Park in Naples on March 19, 2025.

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill, named after the newspaper publisher Frank Gannett, consists of 410 acres of open lands and woods. The park includes beautiful scenery, hiking and biking trails, a playground, three softball diamonds, a fishing pond, and picnic sites.

The park is open every day of the year from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is located at 6475 Gannett Hill Park Drive in Naples.

Taughannock Falls State Park

Taughannock Falls State Park is apopular Finger Lakes destinationas it is home to the tallest free-falling waterfall east of the Mississippi. The 750-acre state park offers an array of scenic sites, including the blooming wildflowers along Gorge Trail, and stunning views of Cayuga Lake at the North Point.

Taughannock Falls State Park is at 1740 Taughannock Boulevard in Trumansburg, Tompkins County, right near the shores of Cayuga Lake. For updates on trail statuses, visit https://parks.ny.gov/parks/taughannockfalls.

Catharine Valley Trail

The six-mile, multi-use trail goes through a valley south of Seneca Lake. It is a stone-dust trail that passes through many wildlife habitats and will become a 12-mile trail once construction is completed, according to New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

Catharine Valley Trail is open every day of the year from dusk to dawn and is located near Watkins Glen, Schuyler County.
