Peab to build new K-6 Sunnerby School in Nynäshamn, Sweden
Peab has been appointed to undertake the construction of the new Sunnerby School in the Nynäshamn municipality of Sweden.
The project involves the development of new structures and the refurbishment of an existing educational facility.
The contract, valued at Skr197m ($20.58m), has been awarded by Sweden’s Nynäshamn municipality.
The new K-6 school in Sunnerby, set to replace Kyrk School and parts of the current Sunnerby School, will accommodate up to 420 students.
The project will commence with the demolition of certain sections of the existing school to clear the way for the new construction.
The planned building, spanning around 4,800m², will feature a commercial kitchen, a dining area and a library.
Peab has also committed to providing internship opportunities for students from Nynäshamn High School.
The Sunnerby School construction is a turnkey contract, with work scheduled to begin after the summer of 2025 and the new school to open in time for the autumn school term in 2027.

In recent years, we have successfully built and renovated several schools in Stockholm and the surrounding area, among them Stavsborg School and Kumla School in Nacka as well as Västertorp School."
In June 2025, Peab secured a contract for Tingdal School in Åstorp, which covers renovations and extensions over 7,500m².
In April, the company was chosen to carry out renovation and expansion works at Kungsfågeln High School, with the Skr103m project expected to be completed by June 2026.
