The first production Bugatti Bolide, chassis number 001, is set to cross the auction block at Gooding & Company’s Pebble Beach Auctions on August 15-16, with estimates suggesting it could fetch between $4.5 million and $6 million.

The track-only Bolide, revealed in 2020 as one of Bugatti’s most extreme engineering achievements, is limited to just 40 units worldwide. Powered by Bugatti’s legendary 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine, the Bolide produces an astonishing 1,578 horsepower while tipping the scales at less than 3,200 pounds, making it one of the most aggressive track hypercars ever built.

Originally priced at $4 million, the Bolide was not available to just any buyer. Bugatti required customers to have a history of purchasing its hypercars, favoring long-time collectors and brand loyalists. For most enthusiasts, even with the funds available, ownership was out of reach.
That exclusivity is part of why this particular car — the very first Bolide ever completed — is expected to draw intense bidding interest. Chassis 001 has never been publicly offered before, making this auction a rare opportunity for collectors to bypass Bugatti’s strict allocation process.

The Bolide is designed exclusively for track use and features a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque, advanced aerodynamics, and suspension components borrowed from Bugatti’s endurance racing development program. Its extreme downforce and high-revving W16 allow for performance figures comparable to top-tier endurance racers, making it as close to a Le Mans prototype as Bugatti has ever built for customers.
With only 40 cars slated for production and immediate sellouts when announced, this first-built Bolide could set a record for the model when it crosses the block next month.
