A recently leaked video is showing in-development footage for a scrapped Batman: Arkham game, centered around the Damian Wayne version of the Caped Crusader. Batman's storied history as one of the most iconic superheroes in DC Comics' lineup has led to a rich library of games based around the "Caped Crusader." Batman games date back as far as the mid-1980s, with plenty of beloved games drawing from the comic books, animated series, and even some themed around specific Batman movies. However, one particular group of Batman games is often considered among the Dark Knight's best.
First debuting with 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum, the Arkham games developed by Rocksteady and Eidos saw critical and commercial acclaim. Arkham Asylum was hailed as one of the "greatest comic book video games of all time," capturing a nomination for Game of the Year and helping Rocksteady to win Studio of the Year. The series would go on to see multiple new entries, with Arkham City and Arkham Knight developed by Rocksteady while WB Games Montreal took over for Batman: Arkham Origins. Now, another scrapped Rocksteady Batman game has seen its early footage leaked.

Batman’s Arkhamverse Deserves to Give One Boss the Villain Role They Were Robbed of

PostsA video shared by prominent Batman Arkham account The Arkham Channel is showing off new unreleased footage from Rocksteady's Damian Wayne game. The video depicts Batman villain Killer Croc as he is ambushed by Damian Wayne as Batman, tailing after the villain in a motorcycle chase. The footage noticeably features several unfinished textures within the scene, including all the surrounding buildings and even Killer Croc and Batman's motorcycles. The uploader also notes that the video uses a placeholder model for Killer Croc from Batman: Arkham Origins to represent the villain.
Leaked Video Shows Canceled Damian Wayne Batman Game
The new video from the cancelled Damian Wayne Batman game comes as more information about the cancelled project has begun to surface. The game, referred to in production as "Project Sabbath," would have featured Bruce Wayne's son Damian taking over as Batman, with an older, grizzled Bruce guiding him. The inclusion of character models for Killer Croc suggests that the villain likely would have played a significant role in the game, with the Huntress also appearing within concept art.
CloseRocksteady's cancelled Batman project could have seen the developer take a significantly different path than it would eventually follow. Batman: Arkham Knight would be the last game in the Rocksteady series centered around the titular Dark Knight, with the developer shifting focus to a new Suicide Squad game in the same universe. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League would not see the same critical acclaim as its predecessor, however, with the game facing significant criticism over its gameplay and transition to live service. The scrapped Damian Wayne footage gives fans a glimpse at what could have been in Batman's future.
