Volvo EX40 is formerly the XC40 Recharge
Available from $52,500, the 2025 Volvo EX40 is a crossover that seats up to five passengers and boasts a 296-mile range. Formerly known as the XC40 Recharge, the EX40’s name change is a result of the Swedish automaker’s growing EV lineup. This July, Volvo is offering a pretty interesting lease deal on a new EX40, with a monthly payment as low as $469. This specific lease offer spans a 36-month term, requires $3,909 due at signing, and includes an annual 7,500-mile allowance.

While the 2025 Volvo EX40 is available in three trim levels, only the Core model is eligible for July lease offers. Available in single- and dual-motor setups, the all-electric crossover comes well equipped, with premium features that include wireless charging, a 12.3-inch driver display, a nine-inch center display, and heated front seats. While it doesn’t quite compare to the pricier Audi Q6 e-tron and Porsche Macan, the Volvo EX40 delivers an engaging driving experience and a comfortable cabin at a competitive price.

The Volvo EX40’s name has changed, but its powertrain carries over from the previous model year. The crossover comes with a single-motor RWD setup that produces 248 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. With that kind of performance, the EX40 accelerates to 60 mph in around 6.9 seconds. Range sits at a fairly respectable 296 miles, and the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in 28 minutes when connected to a DC fast charging station.
Upgrading to an all-wheel drivetrain adds a second electric motor, increasing output to 402 horsepower and 494 lb-ft of torque. An EX40 with AWD can hit 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds, but range drops to 260 miles on a single charge. Regardless of electric motor setup, the EX40 features an 82 kWh battery and can tow up to 2,000 lbs.

The 2025 Volvo EX40 rolls out on 19-inch glossy black diamond-cut wheels, complemented by black roof rails, tinted rear windows, and black window trim. The heated front seats come enveloped in a fusion microtech and textile upholstery, a leather-free material that offers a premium look and feel. Smartphone compatibility, like Apple CarPlay, comes standard, and pairs well with wireless charging and Volvo's high-performance audio system. In terms of convenience, the Volvo EX40 features keyless entry, a power tailgate, and a foldable load floor in the cargo area.

The Twin Core can be had for as low as $575 per month and a $4,019 initial payment.

The lease offers are a little different in the Austin and Charlotte areas. While the lease is still a 36-month term, the mileage allowance drops to 7,500 miles per year. In Austin, an EX40 Core can cost you as little as $469 per month, with $3,909 due at signing. Upgrading to a Twin Core could cost you $499 per month and a $3,839 down payment.
