I've taken my two dogs on one trip and they clearly weren't fans of travel. Both my pups were very anxious the entire time and let me know in no uncertain terms that they are tried and true homebodies. I wish they could come with us every time we venture away from home, but it's just not their cup of kibble.

Yet there are canines that love a good adventure. Some dogs do fine on planes, trains and automobiles and thrive in new environments. Hunter the Newfoundland just ventured out on his first ever holiday with his parents and seemed up for the challenge.

In the TikTok from @hunterthenewfoundland, the gentle giant was packed and ready to go on vacation. After the hour-and-a-half drive to the port, Hunter boarded his first-ever ferry boat. Apparently, this was just the initial leg of his journey with his parents.

With accommodations in a pet-friendly room, Hunter was a bit anxious at first with all the sounds from the boat. Thankfully, his mom brought along some special treats to calm him. Over time and with some scenic views from his state room, Hunter acclimated quite well and fell fast asleep on the floor. After such shuteye and docking in Ireland, the fur baby was ready to debark the boat for his next mode of transport.

Hunter stretched his legs on a good walk before heading to the car for a three-and-a-half hour ride. The Newfoundland was quite content looking at the scenery with his head out the window. He soon fell asleep, exhausted from a day of travel.

Though my pups prefer staycations to traveling out of their comfort zone, many dogs enjoy accompanying their family members on a trip. Now with plenty of pet-friendly hotels, there are numerous options of places to stay when you have your dog along for the ride.

There are many positives to traveling with your pup. Canines are great company, keep you active, and are social magnets. People flock to fur babies and they often become the center of attention.

Be sure to take your dog's personality and temperament into consideration. Some canines have a hard time adapting to different modes of transportation and new environments, where others take to it with ease. It really depends on the dog.

Hunter appears to be an adventurer, so this will probably be the first of many trips for him.
