Jul. 9—July 9, 2015 — Local author Jim Probestle recently released a book about the impact of concussions in the sport of football. Probestle's brother, Dick, died from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Dementia, and the new book aims to honor his brother as well as teach people about CTE Dementia.

July 9, 2000 — The Bemidji Old Timers softball team took second place at the Duluth Invitational in the 55-60 year old division to qualify for the national Old Timers meet at Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 2001. The team is set to play against Winnipeg at the World championships, which will be held this fall.

July 9, 1975 — After heavy rains hit Beltrami County, the county board met to discuss the impacts. According to an Agriculture and Soil Conservation Service representative, a total of 50% of the grain in the northwest portion of the county was lost, and there was a 50% crop loss in the Shooks area.

July 9, 1925 — Minnesota Electric Light and Power Co. has reached an agreement with the city council to force lower rates while franchise offers are pending. Small consumers of electricity for commercial purposes will save approximately three cents per kilowatt hour and practically all users will enjoy savings.
