England’s Tommy Fleetwood has been a rising star in golf for some time now. An Olympic silver medalist in Paris last summer for Team Great Britain, Fleetwood is looking to the 2025 British Open for his first majors title. Bookkeepers are already putting the 34-year-old among their top picks for “The Champion Golfer of the Year,” as the tournament’s winner is styled.

Among the top supporters in his corner is his wife, Clare Fleetwood, who pulls double duty as his manager.

Curious to learn more about Tommy Fleetwood's wife? Here are five facts you need to know about Clare Fleetwood:

1. Clare has a background in sports management.

Clare grew up in Manchester, England. “We share a very northern sense of humor,” Tommy told The Times about Clare in 2023. “We’re both from working-class backgrounds—when you look at our parents they brought us up in a similar fashion, whether it be in terms of kindness or toughness or wanting to be the best you can be.”

After college, she launched her career at Hambric Sports Management, a boutique agency representing amateur and professional golfers. She rose up in the ranks to vice president for Europe within the company.

2. They met through Tommy’s brother, Joe.

Joe Fleetwood, Tommy’s brother and a former golfer himself, also worked at Hambric with Clare. When Tommy signed with the agency in 2015, Clare became his manager.

“My brother, Joe, working at Hambric is obviously a big plus point, but I get on well with Clare Craig, too, who is vice-president of Europe,” Tommy told Golf Monthly in 2015 about changes he was making in his career at the time. “She’s always been around on Tour, and I’ve chatted to her a lot over the years.”

Initially, their relationship was professional. Eventually, things turned romantic, but it took awhile to get there. Clare has said she first turned Tommy down due to their 22-year age gap.

“We spent more and more time together and it just so happens we fell in love,” Tommy told The Times in 2020, explaining how naturally it happened. “Not long, just months. We already had such a strong connection and the extra time spent together just tipped us over the edge.”

3. Their son Franklin was born in 2017.

In September 2017, Clare gave birth to their son, Franklin (nicknamed Frankie). Tommy also withdrew from the 2017 British Masters, noting in a statement: "I wanted to give myself every chance of playing this week, but being there at the birth of your child is a special moment in anyone's life and I would not want to miss it.”

Clare also has two sons, Oscar and Murray, from a previous marriage to Andy Craig. Both of her sons are avid golfers and often join Tommy on the tour. Oscar is already teeing up at several invitationals in the Middle East.

4. Clare and Tommy were married in the Bahamas.

After winning the Race to Dubai on the European Tour two weeks prior, Tommy and Clare were married in the Bahamas after Tommy competed there for the Hero World Challenge in November 2017.

''Me and Clare said that if we got into the tournament, it would be a great place to get married,'' Fleetwood told reporters at the time. ''So I'm actually getting married on Tuesday here. So missing the tournament wasn't really an option.''

And on the location: “The beach” was the best Tommy could surmise. ''Actually, I think she's deciding that today,” he continued. “She was looking at two or three different options. So that's not really my choice, but I will be there.''

5. Clare is still Tommy’s manager.

There are always going to be critics, but Tommy and Clare say they don’t listen to them.

“We planned to keep our life and our work separate, for me to find another agent,” Tommy told The Times. “But it became more apparent I wasn’t going to find anybody I’d trust as much because, after all, Clare is a very, very, very good agent by trade; it wasn’t like she was my wife just helping the family out. So in the end we thought, ‘We’ll just give it a go, but we will never let anything get in the way of our relationship,’ and it’s just always worked perfectly.”

But as Tommy’s manager, Clare does look out for what he needs to know. Following a grueling runner-up finish at the Travelers Championship in June, Tommy was asked by Sports Illustrated about some of the consoling fan reactions after the tournament.

“I saw some of it,” Fleetwood told SI. “My wife told me about it and she said it was really nice. It was really cool. I always say, whether it’s in person or playing in front of a lot of fans or whatever form that it comes in, I think I’m very lucky with the support that I get. I’ve always had a very good connection with people, I guess. And I feel very grateful.”
